Welsh Names

Ok so I've done a few blogs about Celtic names so here is the next one - Welsh names. I find Welsh names very interesting and they often have lovely meanings.

Here are my top tens!

Boys:
10. Bowen - This is a very strong and masculine sounding name that means 'son of Owen'.

9. Emrys - This is the Welsh form of Ambrose, I think it is very unusual and interesting.

8. Bryn - This name is very simple and very masculine sounding and means 'hill'.

7. Iestyn - This name is very cool and interesting, it's the Welsh form of Justin. It is pronounced (YES-tin).

6. Gawain - This is an ancient Welsh name that is featured in the Arthurian legends. I have always thought it was very cool and interesting.

5. Gwyn - This is a very short and simple name that means 'white, fair and blessed.'

4. Evan - This is an anglisized version of Iefan which is the Welsh form of John. I think it is very strong and masculine.

3. Dylan - I have always thought this name was very cool. It means 'great tide'.

2. Gareth - This is a very cool and manly name.

1. Rhys - This is a very cool and interesting name that means 'enthusiasm'.

Girls:
10. Eirlys - This is a very beautiful and interesting name that means 'snowdrop'.

9. Eira - This is a lovely short and sweet name which means 'snow'.

8. Gwyneira - This is a very intersting and beautiful name that means 'white snow'.

7. Cerys - This is a very pretty name that is quite popular where I live. It means 'love'.

6. Nia - This is a very simple and sweet name that means 'bright'. It would make a nice alternative to Mia.

5. Rhiannon - This is a very pretty and interesting name that means 'great queen'.

4. Gwyneth - This is a very interesting and pretty name that means 'fair, white and blessed.'

3. Megan - This is the Welsh form of Margaret. I think it is very cute and spunky.

2. Carys - This is another form of Cerys which also means 'love'.

1. Seren - This is a very cool and interesting name which means 'star'.
